Works like Dr. Alonso Kane, Bombers, How Sweet A Dream, and Cowboy Philosophy are just some of his more timely pieces. Over the years, this author has written more than three hundred poems, books, some songs, and many short quips, plus anecdotes and philosophical commentaries.
about the books
Bear Spray
When survival becomes a mirror for the soul…
In Bear Spray, Howard Anthony Stewart delivers a raw, vivid, and spiritually charged survival story about courage, endurance, and faith in the heart of the untamed wilderness.
Set deep in the rugged backcountry, a construction crew works tirelessly to complete a remote visitor center an isolated project surrounded by danger, uncertainty, and the primal rhythm of nature. When a close encounter with a charging bear forces the narrator to confront his deepest fears, the wilderness transforms into a teacher, revealing that survival is not only about escaping death, but about learning how to truly live.
Through gripping scenes of danger, teamwork, and introspection, Stewart weaves a profound reflection on resilience and human purpose. The wilderness becomes both battleground and sanctuary a place where faith is tested, humility is learned, and meaning is rediscovered.
Blending the realism of adventure writing with the soul of spiritual reflection, Bear Spray captures what it means to face both the beasts outside and the doubts within. It’s a reminder that life’s greatest triumphs are born not from control, but from surrender and that even in the wildest moments, grace can be found.
Bear Connection
In the heart of the wilderness, Howard Stewart didn’t expect to find himself fighting for his life or his purpose.
A close encounter with a charging bear becomes more than a moment of terror…it becomes a mirror. A reminder that survival isn’t just about escaping danger, it’s about learning who you are when everything is at stake.
Through brutal weather, construction setbacks, and the quiet weight of doubt, Howard discovers something deeper in the wild:
Courage, connection, and the faith that carries a person forward when the world pushes back.
Bear Connection is a gripping memoir of resilience, friendship, and the life-changing truths found where fear and purpose collide.
Cowboy Philosophy
Every choice we make is a horse we choose to ride.
In Cowboy Philosophy: Never Back the Wrong Horse, Howard Stewart draws on the enduring wisdom of the cowboy way of life to explore the power and responsibility of decision-making. Through thoughtful reflection, faith-centered insight, and plainspoken truth, he reminds readers that life’s direction is shaped not by chance, but by the choices we commit to day after day.
Using the Western landscape as a living metaphor, Stewart examines integrity, obedience, humility, perseverance, and accountability. He challenges readers to slow down, take an honest look at the path they’re on, and consider where their decisions are truly leading them spiritually, morally, and personally.
This is not a book about nostalgia or clichés. It is a call to live with intention, to stand by what is right even when it’s difficult, and to recognize that once a choice is made, it carries consequences.
Cowboy Philosophy is an inspiring guide for anyone seeking clarity, faith, and direction in a world full of distractions because when the dust settles, what matters most is knowing you backed the right horse.

What begins as a moment of fear and uncertainty slowly becomes something deeper: a lesson in humanity, respect, and the unseen histories that surround us.
“A brain is a terrible thing to waste — read, write, and capture your thoughts.
You never know which idea might shape a life, a dream, or a future.”
